Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): On Thursday, an ancient Shivling was stolen from the Rinmukteshwar temple in Rajghat, an island town in the backwater area of the Sardar Sarovar dam in Barwani district.
Upon receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and searched the temple.
“The mosque has been investigated and may be an act of antisocial elements,” said Vikas Kapis, head of the Kotwali City Police Department.
According to the temple monk Narayan Bhai, the temple was founded in 1880 and a 125-year-old Shivling was stolen from the Rinmukteshwar temple.
Because many devotees come here to pay their vows during various festivals, this temple has not been moved like many other temples despite being submerged in water for half a year.
According to information, there are many such temples that have not been relocated. The land for this temple was in fact only given to the settlement by the Narmada Valley Development Authority, but the land was only given up to the limit of the water of the dam, as everyone involved with the temple demanded that it be left on the banks of the Narmada River.
