Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has introduced its first electric vehicle (EV) deployment as part of its green practices.

Best Sustainable Airport of the Year

The announcement comes shortly after the airport was named ‘Best Sustainable Airport of the Year’ at the 14th Civil Aviation International ASSOCHAM Conference and Awards organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM). CSMIA introduced 45 EVs, replacing existing fossil fuel vehicles.

This is part of the airport’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and promoting sustainable transport. CSMIA plans to replace all internal combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles by 2029 as part of its Operational Net Zero mission, an airport spokesperson said.
