Trump returns to Twitter after Elon Musk takes office
Last November, Twitter reinstated Trump’s account after Elon Musk took over as CEO of the microblogging platform.
“People said, Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk tweeted. Vox Populi, Vox Dei is a Latin phrase meaning “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.
Trump’s once-blocked Twitter account reappeared on the platform minutes after company owner Elon Musk announced that he was lifting the former president’s 22-month suspension for inciting violence.
Twitter CEO Musk posted a poll asking users of the microblogging website to vote on whether to reinstate Trump’s account, which was banned for life for incitement to violence following the Capitol riots.
The billionaire Twitter owner posted “Restore former President Trump” and gave them the chance to vote for or against. “Trump polls are getting ~1 million votes per hour,” he said in a follow-up tweet.
According to the poll, a little over 15 million Twitter users voted, with 51.8% in favor of his reinstatement.
