England captain Ben Stokes was named the 2022 ICC Test cricketer and Nat Sciver swept the women’s awards.

England captain Ben Stokes was named ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2022 on Thursday after a staggering season with the bat and ball last year. This is the second time Stokes has received this award, after 2019.

The ICC said Stokes “defined the year of Test cricket more than anything else”.

The talisman all-rounder amassed 870 runs from 15 Tests in 2022 with an average of over 36 and 204 50s. He also took 26 wickets at 31.19.

As well as with the bat and ball, Stokes was great as his captain even after taking over the helm from Joe Root.

Stokes led the Three Lions to nine wins in ten Tests, completing series victories at home to New Zealand and South Africa, beating India in the one-off Test to level the series 2–2, and beating Pakistan 3–0. It is. At home – the best margin of victory in English history.

Prior to his appointment, England had won just one Test in 17 matches.

Stokes was named captain of the 2022 ICC Men’s Test team earlier this week.

English Sweep ICC Women’s Awards

English allrounder Nat Sciver won the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award along with the ODI Player of the Year award.

Sciver’s two awards come after scoring 1346 runs and taking 22 wickets in 33 international matches in 2022. She scored five half-centuries and two centuries, including her first Test back against South Africa in June.
