Man drowning during Ganesh idol immersion in Badlapur

Thane: A 25-year-old man drowned while dipping a Ganesha idol in a dam near Badlapur railway station on Thursday. Firefighters in Ambernath recovered the body of Ganesh Baburao Sanap, a resident of Bara Bungalow, Siddharth Nagar, Kopri, from the scene on Friday.

Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) Thane Director Avinash Sawant said, “After being informed, an ambulance and a fire truck were rushed to the scene along with Ammbernath’s fire brigade and police. On Thursday evening, we searched the site for about three hours, but it was dark and we stopped.” The fire department resumed the search on Friday and recovered the body in about seven hours.

The body was then turned over to Ambernath Police, who filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR).
