Surat (Gujarat) [India]January 31st: On Republic Day, Youth Nation, an organization that has been working to raise awareness of the disastrous effects of drugs for the past nine years, has organized a unique carnival with the message of no drugs. City police and several other organizations also joined the cause.

Sharing details about the event, Youth Nation founder Veekas Champalal Doshi said, “We are committed to freeing society, especially youth, from the clutches of deadly drugs. Every year on Republic Day, we organize a unique event with the message that we are against drugs. This year we organized a carnival with several activities with the key message being to keep people from getting addicted to drugs.”

A 1.5km carnival was organized by Prime Shopper from Udhna Magdalla Road to Y Junction from 5.30pm to 10.30pm. A painting with the message ‘Say No To Drugs’ was also drawn as part of the carnival. Vapi’s group of bikers performed reckless stunts to emphasize the importance of safety. The Surat Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) set up stalls at carnivals to spread awareness about the detrimental effects of drug addiction. Surat Traffic Police also set up stalls to inform people about the importance of following traffic rules.

There were also two stalls at the carnival for free health checkups, and a kiosk at the De-addiction Center. The basic message of all the carnival activities was ‘no drugs, yes life’.

Darshanaben Jardosh Union Minister, Hemali Boghawala Mayor, Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Tomar, SMC Standing Committee Chairman Paresh Patel, Nirav Shah, Shri kunj Bihari Sultaniya, in addition to Rungta Builders Anil Rungta Owner, Kailash Hakim and Surana Builders from Hemani Sari decorated the carnival . .

The carnival also featured Bhagirath Goswami’s Udan Band, Anees Yog Garba, Kathak dancer Kakoli Chatterjee’s students, Mayank Kapadia’s Echoestick Band, Blind Yoga’s Falguni Godiwala students, Shivani Yoga, Ankita Yoga, Scholar High School students, dynamic warrior students, Hemali Panwala, Kamlesh Masalawala,. For live performances, 10 plus stages were prepared at the carnival. Magic shows, street walkers and tattoo artists also entertained visitors.
